Dian Hanson was born November 2nd, 1951, in Seattle, Washington. She is the second of five children born to a naturopath/chiropractor and a stay-at-home mother. Her parents were eccentrics: radical right wing conspiracy theorists, early health food fanatics, and members of a secret branch of the Rosicrucian occultists, where her father served as Supreme Grand Master. Dian left home at age 17 and never completed high school. In 1976 she was in Allentown, Pennsylvania, working as a respiratory therapist, when she met a man charged with launching the hardcore sex magazine Puritan. Hanson quit her job, joined the staff and moved to New York City, starting a 25-year career editing men’s magazines. These included Partner, Oui, Adult Cinema Review, Video X, Harvey, Hooker, Expose, Big Butt, Bust Out!, Tight, Juggs and Leg Show–her most successful–as well as the motorcycle magazines Outlaw Biker and Hawgs.

In her 10 and a half years with Taschen Hanson has written and edited over 50 books for the company, including Naked as a Jaybird, Terryworld, the six volumes of Dian Hanson’s History of Men’s Magazines, Vanessa del Rio: Fifty Years of Slightly Slutty Behavior, Richard Kern’s Action, Ed Fox: Glamour From the Ground Up, Tom of Finland XXL, The Collected Works of George Quaintance, and her highly successful "body parts" series, which includes The Big Book of Breasts, The Big Penis Book, and The Big Book of Pussy. She currently lives in the Hollywood Hills with her husband, novelist Geoff Nicholson.

Cheech Marin, primarily known as an actor, director, and performer, has developed the finest private collection of Chicano art in this country. Much of it formed the core of his traveling exhibition Chicano Visions: American Painters on the Verge, which broke attendance records during its groundbreaking 15-city tour during 2001‐2007 to major art museums across the United States. He states, “Chicano art is American art. My goal is to bring the term ‘Chicano’ to the forefront of the art world.” This focus is what led to his touring exhibitions, The Chicano Collection/La Colección Chicana: Fine Art Prints by Modern MultiplesPapel Chicano: Works on Paper from the Collection of Cheech Marin. He has also produced exhibitions for LACMA (Angelenos/Chicano Painters of L.A. – June 15 through November 2,2008) and the Art Museum of South Texas in Corpus Christi (Menudo: Chicano Art from the Cheech Marin Collection ‐ September 17, 2009 to January 3, 2010). His latest exhibition, Chicanitas: Small Paintings from the Cheech Marin Collection, is touring and is now on view at the Museum of Monterey in California through April 30. and

A third‐generation Mexican American, Cheech has received numerous awards for his work on behalf of Latinos, including the 2000 Creative Achievement Award from the Imagen Foundation and the 1999 ALMA Community Service Award from the National Council of La Raza and Kraft Foods. In 2007, he received an honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts for his contributions to the creative arts from Otis College of Art & Design in Los Angeles, and received the inaugural Legacy Award for Arts Advocacy from the Smithsonian Latino Center. He serves on the boards of the Smithsonian Latino Center and the Hispanic Scholarship Fund.

As an actor, Cheech is familiar to many as one‐half of the hilarious duo Cheech and Chong; together, they made eight feature films. He has since appeared in more than 20 films, including The Perfect Game, Spy Kids, Tin Cup, and Once Upon A Time In Mexico. He currently plays Rob Schneider’s father-in-law on the new CBS comedy, ROB. Other television credits include co‐starring with Don Johnson in CBS drama Nash Bridges, a recurring role on the hit series Lost, and a guest appearance on Grey’s Anatomy. His latest films include The Perfect GameBeverly Hills Chihuahua and Race to Witch Mountain (Walt Disney Pictures); and The Miracle of Dommatina (Hallmark Channel). In addition, in 2005, Cheech directed the Broadway production of Latinologues, a collection of comedic and poignant monologues revealing the Latino experience in America.

Harryette Mullen is the author of several poetry collections, most recently Recyclopedia: Trimmings, S*PeRM**K*T, and Muse & Drudge, winner of a PEN Beyond Margins Award. Her book Sleeping with the Dictionary was a finalist for a National Book Award, National Book Critics Circle Award, and Los Angeles Times Book Prize. Her poems have been translated into Spanish, Portuguese, French, Polish, German, Swedish, Danish, Turkish, and Bulgarian. She teaches American poetry, African American literature, and creative writing at UCLA. A collection of her essays and interviews, The Cracks Between What We Are and What We Are Supposed to Be, is forthcoming from University of Alabama Press in 2012.

Lol Tolhurst is a musician, songwriter, film composer and occasional writer. He is perhaps best known as a founding member of the band that virtually invented alternative music, The Cure. Started in the late seventies in England and still continuing today, The Cure are one of the most influential, successful and critically acclaimed bands of their generation.

As part of The Cure, Lol toured the globe several times over playing in the world’s major cities and helped write and record the groundbreaking albums "Three Imaginary Boys" (renamed “Boys Don't Cry” in the US), "Seventeen Seconds", "Faith" and "Pornography", as the Cure’s drummer. He changed to keyboards in the mid-eighties until his departure from the band in 1989.

In the early nineties he permanently relocated to Southern California where he continues to write, record and tour with his own band Levinhurst, amongst other projects, including composing the score for Doug Dearth’s highly acclaimed documentary 9000 Needles (Winner of the Best documentary at the Phoenix film festival in 2010).

Most recently, 2011 saw a momentous reunion tour with his former bandmates. Lol performed with The Cure for the first time in over 20 years. “Reflections” was an amazing show for Cure diehards in which the first three Cure albums were performed in their entirety at the Sydney Opera House in Australia, The Albert Hall in London, The Beacon Theater in NYC and a sold out three night run at the Pantages theater in Los Angeles.
